WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A high wind warning has been extended through 9 AM Thursday, as Central Wisconsin recovers from a wet, late-season storm.
Winds above 50 MPH brought down tree limbs, causing numerous power outages in the region.
Wisconsin Public Service reported more than 4,500 customers without electricity in Marathon County and more than 59,000 customers offline throughout their service area.
Wood County had 10,000 power outages reported early Thursday morning. In Portage County, 1,500 were without power.
The Clark County Electric co-op had 1,500 homes and businesses off-line.
Tornado Warnings were posted for Clark and Taylor Counties between 9 and 10 PM Wednesday. Storm spotters and radar indicated a funnel cloud near Stanley. It’s unclear if the tornado touched down. A National Weather Service report says the cloud was likely to stay over rural areas.
Additional damage reports are expected throughout the day Thursday.
It’s unclear how long power restoration will take.
