WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of killing Mai Rue Vang is requesting a change of venue for a potential trial.
During a court hearing on Tuesday attornies for Umberto Lo requested on behalf of their client, who was not present due to logistical issues in transferring him from the Taylor County Jail.
Lo is accused of killing Vang, who was known to some as “Lily,” in March 2021. Vang did have a restraining order against Lo when he is accused of showing up at her home. That led to an argument, following which Lo is accused of shooting her.
The case also involves multiple other charges involving domestic abuse that have been rolled into the case.
Lo is being held on a $1 million bond. Another preliminary hearing for the case has been scheduled for January 21st.
