MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The man found guilty of killing and dismembering his parents as a so-called “web of lies” began to unravel around his schooling and employment will be sentenced this spring.
Court records show Chandler Halderson will return to court for sentencing on March 17 at 1:30 PM where he will receive a lifetime prison stay with only the possibility of parole to be set that day.
Halderson was found guilty on all eight counts against him which also include felony counts of hiding a corpse and providing false information regarding a kidnapping or missing person. Those penalties will likely all be overshadowed by those for the homicide charges.
A jury found Halderson guilty of all charges after just a few hours of deliberation. Halderson did not take the stand in his defense, nor did his attorneys call any witnesses.
Halderson killed his parents, Krista and Bart Halderson, after they began to discover he was not being truthful about his education and employment status. That included classes at a local technical college and a job offer with SpaceX in Florida, which Chandler had faked.
