MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — A former Marine who once made an unsuccessful bid for US Senate is making another shot at public office.
Kevin Nicholson is seeking the Republican nomination for Governor. He joins a field alongside former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and businessman Johnathan Wichmann.
Nicholson, an outspoken supporter of former President Trump, previously ran for Senate in 2018, losing the GOP primary to Sen. Leah Vukmir, who subsequently lost to Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
Nicholson appeared Thursday on WTAQ’s ‘The Regular Joe Show”.
“Leadership failures have allowed our schools to become places where children are taught to hate each other on the basis of skin color,” Nicholson told host Joe Giganti, referring to Critical Race Theory. “They’ve destroyed businesses. They’ve crushed our economy, and they’ve done so very consciously.”
Nicholson also made allegations of wrongdoing in the 2020 election, specifically referencing Madison’s controversial “Democracy in the Park” event in which over 10,000 absentee ballots were turned in, which Republicans have alleged was a ballot harvesting effort.
The veteran has previously served as the President and CEO of conservative activist group No Better Friend Corp. He served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2007 and 2009.
