MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Police in Marshfield have arrested a 19-year-old Stratford man for allegedly pointing a handgun at residents in two different homes.
The first incident was reported at about 9:45 Monday evening when officers received a call about a man pointing a gun at two residents in a home on East Harrison Street, threatening to kill them. The suspect left before police arrived, but a few minutes later they received a similar call from a house on North Peach Ave.
Again, the suspect fled before officers arrived. Officers searched the area for him but didn’t find him.
Then Tuesday morning police received a tip that the suspect could be driving into Marshfield, along with a description of his vehicle. They were able to catch up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect pulled over but did not get out of the vehicle to surrender. Officers talked with him for close to 20 minutes before he tried to flee and crashed into a patrol vehicle.
The suspect, who was not identified by officers, was then arrested. Numerous charges are being forwarded to both the Wood and Marathon County District Attornies.
Police add that all parties involved in the incident knew each other, and the threats were targeted and not random.
