STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Crews have recovered the body of a second person following Tuesday’s fire at Butch’s Bar in Sturgeon Bay.
Police say the body of a male was recovered from the scene Thursday afternoon. The remains will be sent to Madison for identification.
The discovery comes after the body of one victim was recovered. The remains were also taken to Madison for identification.
The discovery of the second victim means the dismantling of the building can now be finished. Crews on Wednesday removed small sections of the south wall in their investigation.
Police say nine people who lived above the bar were left without a home. A fundraiser for those tenants has been set up through the United Way of Door County.
Police have also put a temporary flight restriction around the building to prevent drone operators from taking aerial images.
Streets in the area will reopen once debris and ice are cleared. Streets surrounded by yellow tape and barricades remain closed until determined safe for travel, according to police.
