MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — For only the second time in the past month (excluding a day on which backlogged cases were reported), Wisconsin health officials confirmed more than 600 COVID-19 cases in a single day.
The Department of Health Services reported 610 new confirmed cases on Monday. That was the highest single-day total since March 1.
The seven-day average rose to 640, but that figure included several hundred cases added to the system last Thursday as an external lab cleared a data backlog.
The seven-day average of deaths decreased to two, with DHS reporting six new deaths on Monday.
All-time, Wisconsin has reported 1,399,159 total cases and 12,846 deaths.
As of Tuesday, 64.2% of state residents had received at least one dose of vaccine, 60.8% had completed the initial vaccine series and 33.7% had received an additional or booster dose.
Hospitalizations held steady on Tuesday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 149 COVID-19 patients, two more than on Monday but eight fewer than a week earlier.
