ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Expo opens Monday at the Central Wisconsin Convention and Expo Center.
Tait Strand, Executive Director at the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (CWIMA), said they are trying to bring technology and innovation into the Central Wisconsin area, as well as show students what opportunities are available.
CWIMA does that outside of this expo, too, as they take 8th grade students on tours of manufacturers. “Many people don’t understand what happens in there, there’s actually some really cool stuff. And it’s not your grandpa’s factory anymore, they’re not dingy and dirty and yucky. They’re clean and they’re highly technical and they pay really well for these careers,” said Strand.
There will be 90 companies coming to the expo. “Ranging from anything from cheese manufacturer to Nicolet Bank. So we’ve got a little bit of everything. And they all play an integral role in manufacturing, whether it’s a support company or they actually produce something,” said Strand.
