STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Portage County Sheriff Mike Lucas will seek a third term in office.
Lukas made the announcement Friday while surrounded by family, friends, and supporters.
Lukas has been with the sheriff’s office for 28 years and served in law enforcement for 30.
He says there are several things he hopes to accomplish in the future. “We are building on our work with body cameras and improving the safety and security of the building of the sheriff’s office itself,” Sheriff Mike Lukas said.
The primary is in August followed by the general election in November.
