Pastor Yauo Yang joined me on both segments of Feedback to talk about Gospel TLC – his faith-based ministry to those who are suffering from addiction.
Unlike secular programs, because the treatment at Gospel TLC is Christ-centered, they offer healing and victory over the sins of addiction and brokenness through the power of the Holy Spirit. Their methods and approaches are based on and influenced by the Christian faith and they use scripture to guide their residents in individual, group and/or family counseling to overcome their struggles related to addiction and brokenness.
We discussed the homeless problem here in our communities, which is almost always linked to those with an addiction problem. Pastor Yauo emphasized that at the root of all issues related to incarceration and homelessness are addiction and substance abuse. With addiction, instead of making Jesus the center of their lives, addicts worship the wrong ‘god,’ making substances or unhealthy behaviors their idols instead.
