WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A Schofield man is charged with illegally registering to vote.
The Wausau Pilot and Review reports Timothy Hedstrom, 45, completed an online voter registration form in August 2020. He’s accused of lying when he claimed he was not currently serving a sentence for a felony. At the time Hedstrom was on probation for a felony theft case from 2017. Hedstrom told Everest Metro PD that he didn’t recall the question, and wasn’t aware that he was ineligible to vote.
He was charged in May with election fraud, and is scheduled to appear in Marathon County court on June 2.
Hedstrom could face three years in prison if convicted of election fraud. If found guilty, he could face an additional 10 years for violating the terms of his parole from the original theft case.
