MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Elections Commission has voted to allow Republican Tim Michels to remain on the August primary ballot after throwing out a challenge against his petition that was filed by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
The bipartisan Wisconsin Election Commission voted unanimously to allow Michels to remain on the ballot despite an error on some of his nominating petitions- which incorrectly stated his home address.
Despite the error the commission voted unanimously to allow him to remain on the ballot, saying the postal service would still be able to track the address provided on the forms in question to the proper location.
Michels joins Businessman Kevin Nicholson, former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, and State Representative Tim Ramthun on the August primary ballot. The winner will face the incumbent Democrat Tony Evers in November’s general election.
