JAKARTA (Reuters) – Indonesia is reconsidering rolling out a carbon tax next month due to global economic conditions and to give authorities time to come up with implementing regulations, an official said on Thursday.
Febrio Kacaribu, who heads the finance ministry’s fiscal policy office, said the country still aims to start charging the tax on greenhouse gas emissions by coal-fired power plants in 2022.
The carbon tax has already been delayed once, from April to July.
