Former Wisconsin resident Tim Michels, Madison lobbyists’ choice for ‘Easiest to Control Governor of Wisconsin’ is not ready for primetime. Not even close.
NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME FACT #1: Tim Michels and his campaign staff listed an incorrect address on his nomination papers. Presumably because he’s not familiar with the address of his vacation home in Wisconsin.
NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME FACT #2: Tim Michels was the Board President of the lobbyist group Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association and served on the executive board of the Transportation Development Association which advocated for increasing the gas tax and vehicle registration fees and opposed taxpayer-friendly Right to Work legislation signed into law by the Walker/Kleefisch administration. Why? Because Mr. Michels’ family company and the unions and lobbyists opposed would stand to lose mega profits if the bill passed.
NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME FACT #3: Tim Michels counts the number of days he lives in Wisconsin. Presumably because state income tax is less in the state of Wisconsin as compared to Connecticut, his family’s state of residence. How can we possibly have a non-resident governor of Wisconsin?
NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME FACT #4: Tim Michels and his campaign created a campaign event to avoid participating in a Wisconsin Gubernatorial Debate moderated by radio host Joe Giganti. Why? Because his inch-deep, made-for-media talking points wouldn’t stand up in contrast to his competition. As WSAU’s Chris Conley characterized while recently guest-hosting Feedback, like in the Godfather scenario, Tim Michels’ brother runs the company and Tim Michels “is the Fredo” of the family.
NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME FACT #5: Tim Michels and his campaign intentionally lied about being endorsed by the NRA. Why? Because he doesn’t care about the truth. He said so much when questioned about the postcards sent to thousands of Wisconsin pro-2A citizens: “nobody cares.” When asked whether he supports expanded background checks, he responded: “I don’t have that answer today, but I will sit down with everybody that has an interest in this.”
Voter beware. The taxpayer-built millionaire that’s trying to buy Wisconsin’s governor’s race cannot be trusted.
The truth is out there. Vote with caution on August 9th.
