STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A former Youth Pastor at The Woodlands Church in Plover is now in custody in the Portage County Jail, accused of sexually assaulting a child five years ago.
Jordan Huffman was extradited from Florida to Wisconsin this week. On Thursday he waived a reading of the complaint and time limits for his preliminary hearing.
A judge then sent his bond at $100,000 cash with several conditions, including no contact with any child under the age of 18 except his own children and no contact with anyone at the Woodlands Church. He must also turn in his passport to the Sheriff’s Office and agree to GPS monitoring if he is released.
He faces seven felony counts including first-degree child sexual assault, repeated sexual assault of the same child, and child enticement. Investigators say that he was asked by the child’s parents to mentor them because they were acting out at school and had started drinking alcohol.
It’s believed that Huffman assaulted the victim multiple times over three years, stopping only after the victim told him they no longer wanted to do anything sexual.
He also faces a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Investigators add that the victim said Huffman provided drugs and alcohol to them during the encounters.
Huffman left the Plover Church and moved to Florida, where he was arrested after the latest accusations came to light. He returns to court to enter a plea to the charges on September 26th.
