WESTON, WI (WSAU) — Village leaders in Weston are looking for input from residents over the next four weeks as they complete an update to their strategic plan.
Village Administrator Keith Donner says they haven’t taken a good look at their plans since 2016, meaning now is the time to do so. “It’s a process that probably should be revisited annually so we can review where we are,” said Donner. “But we’ve had some other activities that have derailed us a bit. So no we are trying to get back on track.”
The village has enlisted help from a consulting firm that will conduct a series of surveys and focus groups to help update the vision for the next 3-5 years. Donner says they hope to complete the process by the end of the year and have a finished product by mid-January.
The survey covers a variety of topics and also includes some demographic information. The survey is anonymous, and according to Donner can be completed in about six minutes.
Trustee Jasper Hartinger, who was elected to the board last spring, says during his campaign several residents told him they feel like they are in the dark when it comes to the village plans. “Why is the Village doing this? Why is the Village doing that? We don’t feel like we know what’s going on.”
He understands that people are more likely to speak up when something’s gone wrong or they are upset, but Village leadership also wants to know what is going well. “We’re trying to get ourselves out there and let people know that we want their feedback. Not just the bad feedback, but the good with it.
“We want to know what we can do to make the community feel like they are more involved with what the Village is doing,” he added.
Residents can take the survey online from now until October 21st. Signup for the focus groups is also underway through October 3rd. More information can be found on the village website by clicking here, and residents should also receive a mailer with more information as well.
