MOSINEE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Delta Airline will cut its flights from Mosinee to Detroit.
Airport Manager Brian Grefe tells WAOW-TV the decision came from Delta. The airline says they have an ongoing pilot shortage, and the flights from CWA to Detroit involve older aircraft.
Delta, according to Grefe, will be upgrading most of their regional flights to larger 76-seat jets, but only where they can afford to do so. One of the flights from CWA to Minneapolis will get a larger plane.
A timeline for dropping the Detroit flight and upgrading the Minneapolis flight hasn’t been announced.
Delta offers connecting service to its hub in Minneapolis from CWA. American Airlines flies from CWA to Chicago-O’Hare. United Airlines dropped service from Mosinee earlier this year. Management at Central Wisconsin Airport says efforts to attract another airline to CWA are ongoing.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story said that one flight between CWA and Detroit would be cut. A corrected version is now posted.
