PULASKI, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One of the most severely burned victims in a Shawano County bonfire explosion is coming home after recovering from a difficult surgery.
Brandon Brzeczkowski went to a Milwaukee Burn Center on Nov. 16 to have skin grafting on his legs done.
Brzeczkowski was one of about 60 people who attended a bonfire on Oct. 14 where a drum of diesel fuel was rolled into the fire, causing it to explode.
Brandon’s family says while they hoped this surgery would be his last, it is now likely he will need another surgery.
The family describes his recovery from his latest surgery as painful and challenging; as areas of the skin grafting have not taken hold yet.

Earlier this month, Shawano County sheriff’s officials recommended a 17-year-old boy from Green Bay and a 16-year-old boy from Pulaski be charged with second-degree reckless injury and injury by negligent handling of fire. The 17-year-old would be charged in adult court by state law. The case against the 16-year-old would be handled in juvenile court.
Sheriff’s officials also said they planned to recommend charges against the resident of the property where the bonfire took place.
The names of the teens were not released.
