We continue our look back at the music of 50 years ago….
The only “new” Christmas album I could find from 1972 was this one from “The Man In Black”. He and his family, touring band and several notable guests deliver an album of mostly original holiday material along with old standbyes “Jingle Bells and “Silent Night”.
His wife June, sister-in-law Anita and mother-in-law Maybelle Carter are all here. So are Marshall Grant, Tommy Cash and Larry Butler from his touring band along with Harold Reid and the other Statler Brothers and old Memphis friend Carl Perkins.
What lends this LP some interesting differences to the usual collection of tunes is the dialogue between the songs from the participants.
I hope you have a great Christmas weekend. Packers & Bucks play on Christmas Day which is quite a present for Wisconsin sports fans.
Maybe play some classic tunes as well.
