WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — Governor Tony Evers is defending his budget as legislative Republicans start the process of writing their own.
Evers presented that budget on Wednesday night, and it didn’t take long for legislative Republican leadership to call his budget “unworkable”. Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu even called it “bait and switch”.
One of the major items in the Governor’s proposal would be 12 weeks of guaranteed paid medical and family leave. Evers defended that measure on Thursday at a stop at Fiskars in Middleton.
He says it’s something that a majority of residents support and that he hopes Republicans can have a conversation about it.
