WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — A native of Marshfield was killed in action while fighting in Ukraine
28-year-old Andrew Peters, a 2012 graduate from Marshfield High School, was killed earlier this month while fighting alongside Ukrainian forces as a member of the International Legion.
Peters had served with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. According to his parents, he felt the need to use his combat experience to help the people of Ukraine push back against Russia.
His family is working with the U.S. State Department and the embassy in Kyiv to bring his remains home.
In a statement, they add that he will be remembered for his bravery and selfless sacrifice.
