TOWN OF LITTLE RICE, WI (WSAU) — It continues to be a deadly winter on Northern and Central Wisconsin’s snowmobile trails.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says a 55-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision along Kelly Damn Road near Old Highway 8. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second driver was taken to a nearby hospital for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
No further information has been released as the DNR continues its investigation. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of the family.
The incident occurred as many snowmobile trails reopened following this week’s snowfall. According to the DNR, there have been a dozen fatal snowmobile crashes this season.
