WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — Legislation at the Capitol would define carjacking in state statute.
Alex Ayala with the Milwaukee Police Association says there have been 100 robberies in the city so far this year.
“48 of those are carjackings; 43 of those are armed and five of those are strong armed.” said Ayala. “So currently we categorize or we use the robbery statute when somebody robbed somebody of their vehicle.”
Ayala said specifically defining the crime in statute will help police and prosecutors.
