CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – I would like to share some changes at WSAU that are starting today. You may have already noticed that some things are different.
First, the Regular Joe Show will no longer air on WSAU. We have decided to move in a different direction.
I’m delighted to announce the new Meg Ellefson Show, which will air weekdays from 8am to 11am. Meg has become WSAU’s most popular host, and she has the best rolodex in local media. Her program will feature a mix of opinions and guests.
Because Meg’s onair schedule will be extended later into the day, there will also be some changes to the WSAU Wisconsin Morning News. Our local morning show will now start at 6am instead of 5am. The 5am hour will still include local newscasts at 5am and 5:30 and agricultural news at 5:55. The rest of the hour will be filled with an excellent national news show America in the Morning.
Meg is simply more valuable in the 9am and 10am hours than she is at 5 in the morning, when most of our audience is still asleep. I will be the lead voice on many of the local segments until 6:30am.
Making changes on a station with strong ratings is always tricky. Most people only listen to things they like, so any change takes away something that a part of the audience likes. These changes will grow WSAU and will build an even larger audience over time.
