GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, veteran safety Adrian Amos on Tuesday agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets worth up to $4 million.
Over the previous four seasons, Amos has started every game for the Green Bay Packers. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 102 tackles. In addition, he also recovered one fumble and deflected five passes.
Along with Kevin Byard, Leonard Floyd, and Devin McCourty, Amos is one of just four defensive players in the NFL to have started each of his last 82 regular-season games in the previous five years.
Amos becomes the latest former Packer to sign with the Jets after Allen Lazard, Randell Cobb, and Billy Turner joined the team earlier this year.
The Packers have been retooling the safety position throughout the offseason after signing free agent Jonathan Owens and drafting Anthony Johnson Jr who some believe could be one of their best picks from the 2023 draft class.
Veterans like Rudy Ford, Darnell Savage, and Tarvarius Moore are also competing during OTAs to take over the starting safety roles and that competition is expected to last well into training camp.
