WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – The five people on board the missing Titanic submarine have been positively identified.
The five-member crew of the missing submersible currently has around 40 hours of oxygen left, according to the U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Coast Guard, who continued their search on Tuesday.
The first person to be identified on the submarine was Hamish Harding, a billionaire boss of a Dubai-based corporation.
According to The New York Times, British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman joined Harding. Dawood serves as vice chairman of the Engro Corporation, a group of companies that started in the 1960s as a fertilizer firm. He also serves on the global advisory board for the Prince’s Trust International, which was established by King Charles, according to The New York Post.
The 48-year-old father and his 19-year-old son are from a wealthy family in Pakistan.
“We are very grateful for the concern being shown by our colleagues and friends and would like to request everyone to pray for their safety while granting the family privacy at this time,” the Dawood family told the Associated Press. “The family is well looked after and are praying to Allah for the safe return of their family members.”
Another passenger onboard is French marine expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet who has made more than 35 dives on the Titanic and serves as the director of underwater research for RMS Titanic Inc as well as OceanGate CEO and founder Stockton Rush. Rush started OceanGate back in 2009 and is in charge of its engineering and financial services.
