CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Now that I’m back from vacation, my first Conley Commentary is about our report card. Twice a year, in January and August, we get our broadcast ratings – our report card on the size of WSAU’s audience.
The ratings are very good. So this is a time to thank my co-workers at WSAU and to thank you for the time you spend listening.
WSAU is the most-listened-to radio station in the Wausau-Stevens Point market over the past 12 months.
In the most recent ratings, the WSAU Wisconsin Morning News is the most listened to morning broadcast in Wausau-Stevens Point, among adults, in Marathon County, and in the combined Portage and Wood county areas.
Mornings have long been considered radio’s prime time; the most competitive time slot when the most ears are available to listen. I’m stuck by how many choices you have. With an app and a smartphone you can listen to any audio you prefer from anywhere in the world. And so many of you choose us.
We decided years ago that the focus of the WSAU Wisconsin Morning News would be informative newscasts with an emphasis on local content, and intelligent, conservative opinions – which, over the years, have been delivered by different hosts. Meg Ellefson is quickly becoming a morning radio superstar. (And I say that with a great deal of pride, since I hired her and have been onair with her over the last few years.)
We often say in the radio business that “content is king”. Whoever has the most entertaining, most-throught-pervoking things to share with listeners is likely to attract the largest audience. So this is a time for us at WSAU to say ‘thank you’; you have many choices each morning. Thank you for choosing us.
