MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin’s cranberry harvest is expected to exceed last year’s.
Projections from the U.S. Cranberry Marketing Committee indicate Wisconsin will see approximately 4.97 million barrels of cranberries harvested this fall; an increase of 150,000 barrels from last year.
The Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Association said in a statement the state would end up producing roughly 60% of the nation’s supply of cranberries.
Association Executive Director, Tom Lochner, noted that Wisconsin is a global leader in Cranberry production, generating a billion dollars in economic impact and providing thousands of local jobs.
