MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The new COVID-19 booster vaccines are on their way to hospitals and pharmacies.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard says the current strains circulating are Omicron variants.
“Those are the ones that are the most recent, or the updated formulation of the mRNA vaccines made by Pfizer and moderna were based on, so there’s good reason to think that the vaccine is good coverage for the viruses that are circulating right now,” said Westergaard.
The Centers for Disease Control will be releasing those vaccines soon, and major pharmacies are already pre ordering doses. You can check online at vaccines.gov to find out when doses will be available in your area.
