WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Fire Department has earned recognition from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).
The honor comes after a lengthy review process which involved an application and on-site review from national experts in emergency medical services, or EMS.
“Achieving CAAS accreditation represents our firm commitment to providing excellent service to our patients and community. We continuously strive towards improvement and view the accreditation process as a tool to measure our organization against the highest standards in the nation,” said Fire Chief Bob Barteck in a press release.
The Wausau Fire Department received a perfect score from the accreditors. The news comes just over 14 months after the city approved the hire of three additional firefighter and paramedic positions, then later received FEMA grant funding to hire nine more positions to help fully staff the department.
