MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The State Assembly’s Task Force on Human Trafficking held its first meeting on Wednesday.
Representative Jerry O’Connor from Fond du Lac wants to hear from law enforcement and other experts.
“What can you suggest or recommend to us as a legislature that we could do, or bills and language we could adopt, that will make us more successful in setting captives free?” said O’Connor.
The Speaker’s task force has scheduled four public hearings.
O’Connor says he doesn’t want to re-make state law if he can help it, he wants to reinforce tools that are already in place.
The Task Force will consult with law enforcement and social services experts to talk about the best ways to stop trafficking and free victims.
