MADISON, WI (WSAU) — One day after winning in come-from-behind fashion, the Badger women’s hockey team left nothing to chance in a 12-2 thrashing of Boston College on Friday.
Nine players found the back of the net on the day with Britta Curl, Sarah Wozniewicz, and Lacey Eden scoring two goals each. Marianne Picard recorded four assists.
Casey O’Brien scored her 50th career goal in the win as well.
Freshman Ava McNaughton made 24 saves to pick up her second win of the season in goal.
Before the opening face-0ff Wisconsin Athletics unveiled the 2023 NCAA National Championship banner. Members of last season’s team were on hand for the event along with other alumni who were in town for Homecoming 2023, which will culminate Saturday morning with the football game against Rutgers.
Later tonight the Badger men’s hockey team will take on Augustana (SD) to open their season. The Vikings will be playing their first-ever game as a Division I hockey program, the rest of their sports compete at the Division II level in the Northern Sun Conference alongside schools like Minnesota-Duluth and MSU Mankato.
Wisconsin is now 4-0-0 on the season and will begin WCHA play next weekend against the Mavericks.
