MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Three Milwaukee Democrats have explained why they abstained from a state Assembly resolution in support of Israel on Thursday.
Representative Darrin Madison said he abstained because the resolution called for unwavering support to Israeli sovereignty without also calling for an end to the occupation of Palestine. He called for an immediate ceasefire and acknowledgement that both Palestine and Israel have the right to self-determination.
Representative Ryan Clancy condemned the Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians but would support a resolution with an explicit acknowledgement that Palestine should exist.
Representative LaKeshia Myers on X said terrorism is deplorable no matter who the perpetrators are.
