WAUPAUN, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A second prisoner has died at Waupun Correctional during an extended lockdown.
30-year-old Tyshun Lemons died while in custody this month. Preliminary reports say he died of suicide.
Inmates at Waupun have been on lockdown since March, in reportedly increasingly unsafe conditions.
Green Bay Correctional has seen similar conditions during a lockdown.
Both facilities lack the manpower to fully staff correctional officers, though the Department of Corrections officially says that’s not the cause for the restrictions.
Leaked memos however show that staff have been planning the restrictions since at least November of last year.
