MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Bucks opened the NBA’s new In-Season Tournament with a group stage win over the New York Knicks 110-105.
Six players scored in double figures for the Bucks led by Damian Lillard with 30 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 22 points with eight rebounds and six helpers.
Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez added 12 and 13 points, respectively. Malik Beasley was the only starter to be held off the scoresheet, finishing the game with no points and three rebounds.
Jae Crowder scored 13 points off the bench. MarJon Beauchamp added 12.
Jaelen Brunson led all scorers with 45 points for the Knicks.
The Bucks are now 3-2 for the season and 1-0 in the East Group B, which also includes Washington, Miami and Charlotte.
All In-Season Tournament games count for both group-stage standings and the regular season standings. The Bucks’ next regular-season game is Monday at Brooklyn, their next group-stage game will be November 17th at Charlotte.
Six group winners and two wild card teams will advance to the knockout stage of the In-Season Tournament. Quarterfinal games will be played in home markets, with the semifinals and championship game in Las Vegas.
