MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers made yet another trade on Friday as they agreed to send to the New York Yankees two prospects for first baseman Jake Bauers.
Bauers is expected to compete for the Brewers’ starting first base job due to having no minor league options left. He played in 84 games for the Yankees last season and hit just .202 with 12 home runs on the season. Other teams he’s played for include the Tampa Bay Rays, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Seattle Mariners.
Milwaukee will be sending New York pitchers Jace Avina and Brian Sanchez in the deal. Avina was the Brewers’ 29th overall-ranked prospect and hit .233 along with 14 home runs and 50 RBIs last season in Carolina.
