MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — It’s a supply-versus-demand situation with broadband in Wisconsin.
The state’s Public Service Commission says demand for the expansion of broadband in Wisconsin far exceeds the $42 million that’s available for the state’s Broadband Infrastructure grant program.
The commission says 125 applications for that program requested an overall total of more than $221 million.
In his state budget, Governor Tony Evers requested $750 million for broadband expansion, but the state Legislature turned that amount down over the summer.
