MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A set of bills presented Tuesday look to keep Wisconsin’s deer herd healthy.
The “Healthy Herd, Healthy Hunt” package presented by three Wisconsin Democratic lawmakers targets chronic wasting disease in the state’s deer.
The legislation would invest $2 million into research, management and testing for the deadly disease that attacks the nervous system of deer, moose and elk.
The proposals would also provide funding for deer carcass disposal sites and give funding to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for additional CWD testing kiosks.
