MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Robin Vos says he’s done.
The Republican state Assembly Speaker says there’ll be no more negotiating with the UW System, over a deal to release employee pay raises and approve funding for building projects, in exchange for dialing back diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
“I will do everything in my power to make sure that we either enforce this deal or we wait until the next budget to talk about it again,” said Vos. “We are not going to give the raises, we are not going to approve these new building programs, we are not going to approve the new money for the university unless they at least pass this deal.”
Vos says the deal remains on the table “for a little while.” After voting 9-8 on Saturday to reject it, the UW System Board of Regents are scheduled to meet again Tuesday, in closed session.
