MADISON, WI (WSAU) – One of the Badgers’ top defensive transfers announced on Sunday night that he will no longer be attending UW-Madison this fall, opting to commit to Stanford University instead.
According to Badgers 247, Jahsiah Galvan, who is originally from Northern Iowa, first chose the Badgers after making an official visit to Madison, but the linebacker room appeared to get too crowded for him, which led to the change.
During his redshirt freshman year at Northern Iowa in 2023, Galvan—a former three-star recruit—made the Missouri Valley All-Newcomer Team with 77 tackles (5.5 for loss), an interception, and a forced fumble.
Galvan was hoping to establish himself as a starter; however, the team landed commitments from UNC transfer Sebastian Cheeks, Arkansas linebacker Jaheim Thomas, and USC transfer Tackett Curtis as linebackers not long after Galvan arrived in Madison.
With the addition of the transfers plus several current linebackers, such as starter Jake Chaney, Christian Alliegro, and Bryan Sanborn, the Badgers have an abundance of linebackers heading into this upcoming season.
