WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – Former President Trump received some good news over the weekend when NBC News released their latest general election poll.
According to NBC News, Trump has a 47% to 42% lead against Biden among registered voters, up from 46% to 44% in November.
“This is the biggest lead NBC has ever had in 16 polls for Donald Trump over Joe Biden,” NBC’s political correspondent Steve Kornacki said while on “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
The poll noted several issues that are currently plaguing the Biden campaign, such as an approval rating of just 37%, which is the lowest a president has scored in an NBC News poll since former President George W. Bush, and 55% of respondents saying they trust Trump more with economic issues than Biden at 33%. It also found that respondents trust Trump by 11 points over Biden to “improve America’s standing in the world.”
One question asked the voters which candidate has the “necessary mental and physical health to be president,” with Trump coming out ahead by 21 points over Biden in that question. Biden led Trump by 12 points on the issue of abortion but only held a slim 2-point lead for protecting democracy.
This poll comes as a new UMass/YouGov poll that found former President Trump leads Biden by 4 points nationally and holds a 48-point lead over Nikki Haley in the GOP primary.
