MANITOWOC, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – In the course of looking for 3-year-old Elijah Vue, volunteers visited a salvage yard that was involved in another well-known Wisconsin case.
Dozens of volunteers combed Manitowoc’s Avery Salvage Yard on Monday, which is the infamous site where Teresa Halbach’s remains were discovered in 2005, and Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were subsequently taken into custody and found guilty of her murder.
The search was not motivated by fresh information, according to the searchers, and there is no evidence connecting Elijah to the property.
“There’s always that dark side that makes you fear the worst,” said volunteer Nicole Rivera. “I pray that he’s ok and he’s alive, and hopefully he will be found alive.”
More than a month has passed since Elijah Vue was last seen in Two Rivers, close to Manitowoc, and the reward for information that leads to the discovery of Vue now sits at $65,000 between the Two Rivers Police Department, FBI, and Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers.
