WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – Former President Trump has taken aim at President Biden over protests occurring at college campuses across the Northeast.
According to the Post Millennial, Trump told the media outlets covering his trial in New York City that the president’s tone on the Isreal-Hamas conflict has caused protests, saying, “What’s going on at the college level at the colleges, like NYU and others, is a disgrace. It’s really on Biden. He has the wrong signal, he’s got the wrong tone, he’s got the wrong words, he doesn’t know who he’s backing, and it’s a mess.”
“What’s going on is a disgrace to our country, and it’s all Biden’s fault, and everybody knows it,” Trump continued.

Biden spoke about the protests on Sunday, saying he believes there are problems with both sides of the conflict, saying, “I condemn the antisemitic protests; that’s why I’ve set up a program to deal with that,” and “I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians.”
The anti-Israel protests have caused the University of Columbia to move all classes virtually for the remainder of the semester, which University President Manouche Shafik called sad and concerning, saying, “I am deeply saddened by what is happening on our campus. Our bonds as a community have been severely tested in ways that will take much time and effort to reaffirm.” Students of the Jewish faith who attend the university have told media outlets such as the New York Post that protesters have made them feel unsafe and have even on one occasion blocked them from entering campus buildings because they are Jewish.

Elsewhere, over 150 students and faculty were arrested at the anti-Israel protest at NYU on Monday night, and a group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created a “liberated zone” of their own saying they’re prepared to protest as long as it takes, saying, “Following in Columbia’s footsteps, we are in an encampment in solidarity with Gaza. We are the ones who run this campus and who make it what it is. We hold the power, so we have to show them that we won’t back down until they meet our demands.”
Another anti-Israel protest at Yale University led to the stabbing of a Jewish student journalist identified as Sahar Tartak. When speaking to the New York Post about the attack, Tartak said it happened to quickly to prevent saying, “There’s hundreds of people taunting me and waving the middle finger at me, and then this person waves a Palestinian flag in my face and jabs it in my eye,” and also stated that “When I tried to yell and go after him, the protesters got in a line and stopped me.”
According to the latest Fox News poll, Trump currently leads Biden in key swing states such as Michigan by three points, which hosts a large Muslim population, and some experts believe if the situation in Israel-Gaza is not resolved before election day, many Muslim voters may stay home instead of casting their ballots for the president as many of them did in 2020. The poll also noted that Trump leads in Georgia by six points and is tied with Biden in both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
