MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, 125-108, which evened the series up at a game apiece, but that didn’t stop players from trading jabs as Bobby Portis took aim at the Pacers during his post-game interview.
“I mean, quite frankly, they’re frontrunners, bro,” Portis said Tuesday, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. “Y’all can just tweet that or whatever it is, bro.”
“When the sh*t goes good, they laugh, clap, and all that. When it’s going bad, they’re not saying anything,” Portis continued. “So I think, to answer that question, guys always feel good when they’re having a good game or hitting shots, everybody. I think that’s just human nature and basketball. When you make shots, you feel good. But when the tough going comes, you can’t get anything going; it kind of goes the other way. So, yeah, they’re supposed to feel really good, of course. But Game 3 is on the way Friday.”
Not long after Portis’s comments, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton called out fans at Fiserv Forum, saying Indiana has louder crowds during regular season games, saying, “I’m expecting it to be unbelievable, no doubt about that. I mean, we’ve had regular season crowds better than what we’ve played in these last two games, so we expect a great crowd, and a lot of people are excited to see what’s to come in the series.”
These comments come after the teams traded jabs on the court over the last two games which have even resulted in players such as the Pacers Aaron Nembhard receiving a technical foul after he stood over and taunted Milwaukee’s Patrick Beverley after fouling him. The biggest x-factor moving forward will be the status of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s left soleus strain injury, as he has not yet been ruled out for Game 3, and the team is expected to give an update on his status after practice on Thursday.
