WIAA Members Vote Down Plan To Create NIL Amendment For High School Athletes

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – An amendment that would’ve allowed Wisconsin high school student-athletes to profit off of their name, image, and likeness has failed.

The WIAA posted a message on X, just after 11 a.m. that the amendment was voted down. The final vote tally was 170 for, 219 against.

This Constitutional amendment would have allowed student-athletes to enter into Name, Image and Likeness opportunities for those activities not associated with their school team, school, conference or the WIAA. pic.twitter.com/g3uKweE2VM

Thirty-one other state associations have adopted NIL, including Illinois and Minnesota.
