GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers 2024 NFL draft is far from over after selecting former Arizona and First-Team All PAC-12 offensive lineman Jordan Morgan on Thursday night, as the team holds four picks today with a lot of big names left on the board.
According to GM Brian Gutekunst, the Packers front office staff is eager to get back in the draft room on Friday, saying, “Tomorrow’s a big day for our organization. I’ve talked about how important the draft is. To have four picks tomorrow in the second and third rounds, we have a nice opportunity to help our football team, so yeah, I think we’re all really eager to get after it tomorrow.”
When asked if he thought a trade-up was possible for the Packers during Day 2 of the draft, he said, “I think we’ll explore some opportunities. Again, having that many picks in these next two rounds allows us to be a little bit flexible. We talked a little bit about it tonight. We’ll re-assess in the morning; just try to get a little bit of an idea of how we think it might fall.”
The Packers first selection will come at pick 41 on Friday night with Safety/Cornerback Cooper DeJean, Linebacker Junior Colson, Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, Safety Jaden Hicks, Safety Javon Bullard, and Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry being a few of the standout players still available for the Packers in positions of need.
