RINGLE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Town of Ringle’s Planning and Zoning Commission has given preliminary approval to a proposal to bring a natural gas capture facility to the Marathon County Landfill.
Representatives from Viridi Energy answered several questions about the project as dozens filled the Ringle Municipal Center for the hearing. Some had called into question Viridi’s legitimacy, along with clarifying details of the proposal, which requires a conditional use permit.
“We think this is a win-win project for all parties involved, we’ll be creating local jobs, reducing local emissions, and creating permanent employment on Marathon County renewable natural gas facilities,” said Jake Krause, the vice president of development with Veridi Energy.
The proposal still needs approval from both the Town and Marathon County. If approved, Veridi said construction could be completed by the end of this year.
Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the proposal was tabled. Instead, the Planning and Zoning Commission passed the measure. WSAU News regrets the error.
