NECEDAH, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 38-year-old Necedah man was charged with intentionally setting a fire that resulted in the explosion of a pair of campers at his home.
The Juneau County Communications Center received a report of a camper on fire at 5:35pm Sunday and a possible explosion in the North 10300 block of 16th Avenue in Necedah.
When deputies arrived they found two campers engulfed in flames according to a Juneau County Sheriff’s Office news release. The Necedah Fire Department, Wisconsin DNR responded to the fire. The Adams Fire Department was mutual aided to assist, the release said.
The release also said: While investigating the cause of the fire, Chad Norton, who lived at the address was suspected of intentionally setting the fire. Four hours following the report of a camper on fire, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team located Norton at a home south of where the fire occurred.
He was arrested and charged with Felony Arson of Property Other Than Building, Repeater, and Misdemeanor Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Repeater.
Norton appeared in court Tuesday and was given a $5,000 cash bond. An initial appearance is scheduled for June 12.
