GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have begun their 2024 OTAs, and fans are getting their first look at the teams’ rookies on the field with Jordan Love and the rest of the team.
According to the Athletics’ Matt Schneidman, one of the main surprises of the day has been former Wisconsin Badgers head coach Paul Chryst on the field observing practice with staff. The team did not previously announce that he would be a guest during practice. Chryst currently works for the University of Texas as an offensive analyst.
Second-year tight end Tucker Kraft was one of just two players not practicing on Tuesday due to an undisclosed arm injury. Reports from the field indicate that Kraft’s left arm was seen in a sling, and no timetable for a return has been announced. Other notable injury news comes from the defensive side of the ball, as pass rusher Kingsley Enagbare was a full participant on Tuesday without a knee sleeve, despite concerns last fall that he suffered a torn ACL and required surgery this offseason. Head coach Matt LaFleur has recently stated that Enagbare’s injury was not deemed as serious as initially thought and that Enagbare did not end up needing surgery.
On the offensive line, Zach Tom did not practice on Tuesday, which gave first-round pick Jordan Morgan time at both right and left tackle, with veteran Andre Dillard also seeing time at right tackle.
The Packers’ star free agents, Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs, did participate in warm-ups, but Jacobs did not go through running back drills, according to USA Today’s Ryan Wood. Jacobs was seen doing sprints on the sidelines and was going through a rehab regimen. Wide Receiver Christian Watson was a full participant as well after missing most of last season due to a hamstring injury, and cornerback Eric Stokes also participated fully, getting reps in on the opposite side of Jaire Alexander instead of standout second-year defensive back Carrington Valentine.
