WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former behind-the-scenes employee at the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has been scheduled for a plea hearing for charges of false imprisonment and disorderly conduct.
Michael Evon will return to court on June 11th to face up to six months in prison and $10,000 in fines for the felony count. He’s accused of making unwanted advances towards a female coworker while he was employed as a loss prevention specialist at a local retail store, then sending her an expletive-filled email following his resignation.
The 45-year-old is said to have confronted the woman in her office, blocking the doorway and saying he wouldn’t leave until she kissed him. Other coworkers also accused him of making inappropriate comments towards other female employees, some of whom were teenagers.
Evon was put on unpaid leave and terminated from his position in the Sheriff’s Office shortly after the charges came to light. The office also opened an internal investigation into his conduct as well.
He has pled not guilty to the charges and is free on a $1,000 signature bond.
